I subscribe to some auroral alerts through:http://www.gi.alaska.edu/AuroraForecast
You can set the map on the main page to your general area.
This is the email message that I received yesterday:
"A large solar event on April 2nd was facing away from Earth, but some effects may reach Earth late on the 4th UT.
Watch the skies and http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/ovation/
for an increase in auroral activity
on the nights of 4/5th, 5/6th and 6/7th."
