Your Age in Chicken Years

Post by Fowler on March 28th 2014, 1:21 pm

http://easycalculation.com/other/fun/Human-years-to-Human-years.html

I am a;

6 year old chicken.
8 year old cow.
7 year old duck.
8 year old goat.
16 year old horse.
11 year old pig.
8 year old sheep.

That chicken one makes me feel old.  I always figured chickens were older than that at 6 years.

I had a hen go for about 9 or 10 years.  She was killed by a nasty rooster.

Had a rooster, was mature when I got him, he was at least 10 when he died.

I thought ages like that were a fluke but maybe not.

My mom bought a couple of chicks when I was around 18. 1 rooster and 5 chicken. 15 years later my mom got ill and she has still 1 chicken left and I took it home to take care of. It lived another 8 months before she died. She did had some strange seizures a few times and gave 1 egg the day before she died. She had not laid eggs in many years. It was very strange. But the chicken was almost 16 years old when she died. Amazing huh?

Hmmm. Interesting. That is good to know that barring any unexpected event, that our gentle, lovely old large roosters could be around for a while yet. Smile I didn't know they get that old!

Our oldest will be petting them for many years yet, and she will be pleased to hear it too. She pets them, they relax and tuck into their wings to sleep. They also are giving her nice clean feathers right now. She is happy with that!   cheers

I did try the calculator. I am not very fond of being compared to a mouse...
