About the Forum
Canada offers a broad landscape, range of zones, and a unique set of challenges which is rivaled by only a few other countries in this world. There is a genuine need for a broad spectrum homesteading and small farm forum, and that is the basis upon which CHUSFA was founded. Other forums like Homesteading Today and Sufficient Self, though incredibly valuable, often miss the key aspects and herdals of our Canadian climate, and thus can sometimes leave us with frustrating information gaps, feeling as though there's nowhere else to turn.
CHUSFA intends to promote conversation between individuals with similar interests in a setting by which there is an open forum for general discussion, and moderated sections for informative posts. For more information on how the forum is moderated, please read the rules section. We also hope this becomes a significant gathering point for like-minded folks looking to be self-sustainable in any way, whether a little or a lot. There is a hope that we'll connect people to information they have struggled to find elsewhere.
There are future goals for the Canadian Homesteader Underground and Small Farm Alliance, including an e-magazine (possibly a paper newsletter for distribution in areas local to members), and a registry for those interested in forming a community with a panel and membership benefits for meets, swaps and trade shows. Starting small is key, but we hope the Underground and Alliance can come to benefit a fair number of people.
Welcome to the forums. Read, lurk, contribute. Enjoy.
