We moved out to an acreage a year ago
I have a large garden 12*1000 sq ft plots
12 calves we are finishing antibiotic and growth promotant free
We are also getting into meat rabbits as we have a lot of interest from people wanting meat
As we expand into different livestock we make sure we have a market first
But I will say picking the coldest winter in 76 years to heat 3 buildings with wood was a lot of work but I am 25 lbs lighter because of it

Welcome! Yeah this winter has been more than a little challenging even with just trying to keep one building warm.

cheers Welcome! So great to have you!

What kind of buildings do you heat with wood? House, I'm assuming? Ryan and I are looking forward to the addition of a wood fireplace this year.

If Davinci sees this, she will probably roll her eyes and scold me and say: "I warned you! Stupid wood."

Oooh, underground house...

Stupid question, but how do you get natural light in there? I like to grow indoor plants. Can you grow any indoors that would require bright light...that is without a grow light system?

The entire front of the house which is the only part that is exposed is a 4 season sunroom
I will take some pictures and download them to my computer so I can post them
Part of my garden is on the roof of the house
the shop only the west wall and roof are exposed

I wondered if this is what you did. We have discussed doing a partial underground house, like backed into a hill.

Yes, pictures sound great!

I remember asking someone about a chimney-looking thing sticking out of a yard site in a tiny town in southern Wyoming once when I was younger. I was told the guy had an underground house. I tell you...it was flat as flat in that spot, and I bet his place was dark. I would feel like a gopher... I had dreams shortly afterward of crawling through a hole in the ground and dropping to the floor. It was interesting, but not a fun thought for someone who is claustrophobic and is afraid of heights. I tell you, that dream was odd.
